Dream - Today, May 1, 2024 is commemorated as International Labor Day or May Day. The Ministry of Manpower has a special theme for this year's May Day, "May Day 2024: Working Together to Realize Competent Workers/Laborers". The Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, said that the future of the world of labor will be filled with dynamics of business and industrial world that are greatly influenced by the development of technology and information. This is reflected in the current condition that has entered the era of digitization.
Therefore, according to Ida, the future of Indonesia's employment world is greatly determined by the competence and competitiveness of workers, which will play a significant role in the nation's competitiveness.
"The future of the Indonesian nation is greatly determined by how competent and competitive our workers are. Therefore, specifically, I invite my fellow workers to continue to strive to improve their competence and competitiveness," said Ida Fauziyah in a press release received by Dream.co.id.
According to Ida, the improvement of competence and competitiveness of workers has 2 main objectives for the workers. First, to enhance their skills, expertise, abilities, and capacity so that they are able to advance their careers. Second, the improvement of competence and competitiveness aims to equip oneself with various skills and competencies that can be used for career transition.
The following is the translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "According to him, those two things are very important so that workers can continue to survive facing the dynamics of the increasingly dynamic and competitive world of employment."
"To face the future of employment, being skilled alone is not enough. We must continuously sharpen ourselves, improve our capacity, so that we can always adapt to changes," said Ida."
The Ministry of Manpower itself, said Ida, has prepared various instruments to improve the competence and competitiveness of workers. Such as vocational training through the Community BLK program for workers. Until now, the Ministry of Manpower has built 8 Community BLKs established for labor unions. "This number is certainly still very small compared to the number of our workers. In the future, we will further expand access to improving the competence of our workers," he said.
Apart from BLK Komunitas, Ida stated that BLK or BPVP is also open to workers/laborers who want to improve their skills and competencies.
Because various skill enhancement instruments provided by the government are not only intended to equip skills (skilling) for new workforce, but also to improve skills (up skilling) and transfer skills (re-skilling) for old workforce or workers/laborers. "We are aware that these various instruments are not sufficient to facilitate all workers/laborers in Indonesia. Therefore, on this May Day moment, I also invite ministries/institutions, local governments, and other parties to together make the topic of improving the competence of workers/laborers as a shared issue," he said.
"In this year's May Day commemoration, Kemnaker also launched Minister of Manpower Decree (Kepmenaker) Number 76 of 2024 regarding the Guidelines for the Implementation of Pancasila Industrial Relations. This Kepmenaker includes 6 principles and 2 foundations in realizing Pancasila industrial relations."
