Daihatsu Presents Electric Version of Gran Max at GIIAS 2023

Dream - PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) showcased the Daihatsu Vizion-F BEV electric concept car at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) on Thursday, August 10, 2023.

The concept car from Daihatsu has a similar appearance to the Daihatsu Gran Max, but this is the electric version. This car is presented to meet consumer needs in the commercial segment.

"As mentioned earlier, it can be used as a rescue car and also for logistics business, because logistics, especially e-commerce, is increasing," said Anjar Rosjadi, R&D Product Planning Division Head of PT ADM.

This electric car is designed like a blind van minibus with two-thirds of its body covered. Sliding doors for the rear area are located on the side of the car. Meanwhile, only the driver and passenger areas are equipped with windows.

As for the interior, it looks spacious and can carry a lot of cargo. The presence of a flashlight on the top of the unit adds a futuristic impression to this Daihatsu electric concept car.

However, there is no certainty whether this concept will be realized into a mass-produced product. Until it was showcased at GIIAS 2023. "It cannot be confirmed yet," he said.

Anjar mentioned that this concept car was developed by 100% Indonesian engineers in Karawang in less than a year.

"In terms of development, this was done 100% by engineers in Indonesia because our strategy is from Indonesia for Indonesia, but of course, communication and collaboration are still ongoing with our partners in Japan," said Anjar.

For its specifications, it claims that this car has a maximum speed of up to 100 km/h.

"This car can travel up to 200 kilometers, with a maximum speed of 100 km/h," he explained.

"For charging, it takes about 9 hours from 0-100 percent with normal charge. With fast charging, it can take 1 hour with a power of 30 kWh. Meanwhile, the maximum payload is 500 kilograms," he added.
