Dream - In terms of traditional fashion, Indonesia is very rich. Motifs, designs, and fashion models created by local designers are often inspired by the beauty of traditional fabrics and clothing.
The following is a translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "The designers with their expertise in packaging clothing with a captivating and indulging touch of Indonesian ethnicity. Just like in the Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week event on March 4, 2024, yesterday."
In the fashion show, there are two collections with a strong ethnic nuance. Packaged in a more modern way but without losing the distinctive ethnic character of Indonesia, namely the collection from Parang Kencana and Wilsen Willem who collaborated with Batik Keris. Let's see the beauty of the designs.
Collection from Parang Kencana presented at the Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week Day 3 themed Sanjita, which means strong woman.
The motif itself is inspired by the Majapahit Kingdom, which is rich in culture and its remnants in the form of statues. It is from these statues that Parang Kencana is inspired to apply them into batik motifs.
There are many variant models displayed with modern and chic designs. Parang Kencana's batik clothing is still made using the cap technique and colored with traditional steps-processes. Currently, many people still consider batik as old-fashioned, whereas batik can be worn daily. Of course, we can still look fashionable with batik. If in the past trench coats were only plain or printed, then Parang Kencana tries to combine those trench coats with batik to look cool.
Collaboration between Wilsen Willim and Batik Keris at Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week Day 3 successfully amazed the audience. He showcased the magnificent Janggan kebaya collection with stunning designs.
This kebaya is a trend after being worn by Dian Sastro who played as Jeng Yah in the Gadis Kretek series. The kebaya and batik displayed have a luxurious aura. In this collection, the material used is mix texture corduroy which is made into a trendy beskap, and silk.
"Many inspirations in the past, worn now, and hopefully in the future will be even more widely used. Indonesia does not have to look to Western clothing, we have our own signature and history. That is the direction of the collection," said Wilsen.
Wilsen indeed collaborates with many local brands, because he believes that the industry in Indonesia needs to support each other and prove that the quality of local products can be on the same level or even surpass international brands. Report by Aykaputri Amalia Rahmani
However, this time, crinkle-effect jeans from the Zara brand have become controversial due to their irregular shape and appearance like 'wrinkled' pants.
