There is Yaris Cross, What About Yaris Hatchback, Still Sold?

Dream - Yaris Cross has just been introduced. Toyota claims that the presence of Yaris Cross will expand their market. Although it is undeniable that there will be 'friction' with the Yaris hatchback.

"This will add market and market share for Toyota, therefore we are confident to enter this segment," said Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), Anton Jimmi Suwandy during the global debut event of Yaris Cross, yesterday Monday.

However, Anton does not deny that there will be some 'friction' between Yaris Cross and Yaris hatchback.

"If we don't enter this segment, maybe some of our customers will look at competitor products or other brands. So I think this adds options for Toyota consumers as well," he emphasized.

He added that the segmentation of cars in Indonesia is mostly in the price range below Rp500 million, with a percentage below 75 percent.

Yaris Cross, which will compete in the medium SUV segment--facing Honda HR-V and Mazda 2, is priced below Rp500 million. With a range starting from Rp300-400 million.

Anton explained that the production of Yaris Cross, which has a local content of 80 percent, is still in the finalization stage at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) factory in Karawang, West Java.

"Certainly, if we have launched it as a World Premiere, it means that the units are already in the final production preparation stage," he added.

For consumers who are interested in bringing Yaris Cross, it cannot be done officially or through SPK (Purchase Agreement). But if you go to an official Toyota dealer, you can already make a booking.

"Official ordering can start when it has been produced and when the price has been officially announced. But there is no need to worry because this is already a world premiere, so consumers can ask further questions to the dealer," said Anton.

The All New Yaris Cross is offered with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with the code 2NR-VE, producing 78 kW of power and 138 Nm of torque. As for the transmission options, manual and CVT.

Meanwhile, the Yaris Cross hybrid technology is equipped with a 2NR-VEX engine producing 67 kW of power and 121 Nm of torque, with the addition of a lithium-ion battery where the electric motor has a power of 59 kW and a torque of 141 Nm. Only CVT transmission is available for the hybrid variant.
