Accused of Involvement in Online Gambling, Here's What Ferdy Sambo Says

Dream - Ferdy Sambo denies allegations that he is involved in an online gambling consortium. He made a statement after listening to the testimony of Brigadier J's legal counsel, Kamaruddin Simanjuntak, who mentioned consortium 303 during the trial on Tuesday, November 2, 2022.

"Regarding the reported allegations, I need to clarify that I have never involved any institution in this incident," said Ferdy Sambo during the trial at the South Jakarta District Court.

Ferdy Sambo emphasized that his position as a member of the task force is actually to combat drug cases and gambling problems.

"But personally, because it has happened, I, as a member of this task force, am not involved in drug online gambling, instead I am eradicating it," he said firmly.

Separately, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized that he will not tolerate any police officials involved in gambling crimes. Sigit threatened to dismiss Police Chiefs, Regional Police Chiefs, and officers at the National Police Headquarters who are involved in supporting gambling practices.

"I will not tolerate it if there is still evidence. I will dismiss the officials, I don't care whether they are Police Chiefs, directors, or Regional Police Chiefs. The same goes for the National Police Headquarters, please pay attention, I will dismiss them too," Sigit emphasized.

He asked his subordinates to take action against all forms of criminal activities such as drug trafficking, both conventional and online gambling, illegal mining, extortion, misuse of fuel and LPG. 

As well as arrogant attitudes and biased actions of members in handling legal issues in society.

Sigit added that to maintain the dignity of the Police institution, he asked all ranks to have a commitment that is aligned and in harmony with the eradication of all forms of crimes that disturb the public. 

"Once again, I ask my colleagues, those who cannot do it, please raise your hand. If there is none, it means all of you, all of my colleagues, still love the institution and I ask you to restore the public's trust in the Police, in the institution, as soon as possible," said Sigit.
