Dream - Minister of Health (Menkes), Budi Gunadi Sadikin, reported that the number of cases of acute kidney failure in children as of November 1, 2022, has reached 325, with 178 of them dying.

"Yesterday's data that we monitored showed 325 cases of acute kidney failure throughout Indonesia," said Budi Gunadi, during a working meeting with the IX Commission of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

"The death toll of 178 out of 325 is about 54 percent. This has decreased from the previous condition which had reached 60 percent," he added.

He noted that the region with the highest number of cases is DKI Jakarta. This is followed by West Java, East Java, Banten, Aceh, West Sumatra, and Bali.

Previously, Budi admitted to finding a mysterious cure for Atypical Progressive Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in children. The drug is fomepizole.

"We have found the drug, it's called fomepizole. It's not available in Indonesia, so we brought it from Singapore. We hand-carried it here, and we tried it on 10 patients at RSCM (Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital)," he said at the Adhyatma Building of the Ministry of Health, South Jakarta, Friday, October 21, 2022.

He revealed that out of the 10 patients at RSCM who received this drug, there were improvements in their condition.

"After receiving this drug, some showed improvement, while others remained stable without deterioration. So we feel confident that this drug is effective. Now the Indonesian government is bringing in more of it," he added.
