Dream - Injustice in Islam is also called oppression. It means acting arbitrarily or unjustly. This act is certainly prohibited in Islam.

This is because Islam is a religion that upholds the principles of justice, equality, and certainly does not commit injustice or oppression. Even the Prophet Muhammad said:

"Avoid and fear doing injustice, because indeed injustice is darkness on the Day of Judgment." (HR. Bukhari)"

In addition, in a hadith narrated by Hakim, it is also explained that the prayer of the oppressed is very effective. Therefore, do not dare to commit injustice to anyone.

So, what should be done by the oppressed? Should they retaliate against the person? Of course not. Because every act of injustice will definitely receive its retribution from Allah SWT. Well, here are some attitudes or manners that should be done by the oppressed as summarized by Dream through various sources.

Manners of the Oppressed

For those who are oppressed or persecuted, do not worry.Because Allah SWT will definitely treat the oppressed and the oppressor fairly. Here are some manners of the oppressed as explained by Ustadz Farid Nu'man Hasan:

Be Patient

The manner that should be done by the oppressed is to be patient. In this case, patience does not mean despair or just accepting fate. However, it means not being afraid and not giving up.Even Allah SWT has explained it in the Quran through the verse of Ali Imran verse 146:

وَكَأَيِّنْ مِّن نَّبِيٍّ قَاتَلَ مَعَهُ رِبِّيُّونَ كَثِيرٌ فَمَا وَهَنُوا لِمَا أَصَابَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَمَا ضَعُفُوا وَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا ۗ وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الصَّابِرِينَ

Meaning: "And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many religious scholars. But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the cause of Allah, nor did they weaken or submit. And Allah loves the steadfast." (QS. Ali Imran: 146)

Believe That Every Injustice Will Be Repaid

A person who is oppressed should not be afraid. Believe that the act will be repaid by Allah SWT. Because Allah SWT Himself is Just. Surely Allah SWT will treat His servants according to what they do.

In a hadith narrated by Abu Daud ath-Thayalisi, it is explained that one type of injustice is zhulmun laa yatrujullah (injustice that Allah will not let pass).

Where Allah SWT will repay the one who commits injustice, sooner or later. This is a consolation for the oppressed and shows that the act they experience will definitely be repaid accordingly.

Believe That Every Calamity Erases Sins

The Prophet Muhammad gave glad tidings to every Muslim who remains patient when faced with calamity. He said:

"There is no calamity that befalls a Muslim, except that Allah Ta'ala erases his sins because of it, even if it is only a thorn that pricks him." (HR. Muslim)

In addition, in another hadith it is also explained that Allah SWT will erase the sins of those who sincerely face calamities and disturbances from others. The Prophet Muhammad said:

"No Muslim is afflicted with fatigue, anxiety, sadness, trouble, grief, even a thorn that pricks him, except that Allah will make it a means to erase his sins." (HR. Bukhari)

Telling the Oppressor's Injustice to the Authorities

Someone who is oppressed by others has the right to tell the ruler or judge. The goal is to obtain justice and prevent the injustice from continuing.

This attitude is certainly not the same as gossiping or spreading rumors. Because this is related to personal safety and justice.

By telling the incident, the oppressed person will immediately receive help, and at the same time, the act of oppression can be stopped.

The Prophet Muhammad said:

"Help your brother who is doing wrong (oppressing) and the one who is oppressed. They asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, we understand helping the oppressed, but how should we help the wrongdoer?' He said, 'Hold his hand (so that he does not do wrong)'." (HR. Bukhari)

Praying for the Wrongdoer

The last manner for the oppressed is to pray for the wrongdoer. The oppressed person is allowed to pray for anything for the wrongdoer. Whether it is a prayer for guidance or even a curse. As explained in His words through the verse of An-Nisa verse 148:

لَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ الْجَهْرَ بِالسُّوءِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ إِلَّا مَن ظُلِمَ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ سَمِيعًا عَلِيمًا

Meaning: "Allah does not like the public mention of evil except by one who has been wronged. And ever is Allah Hearing and Knowing." (QS. An-Nisa: 148)
