Former Twitter CEO Creates New Social Media, Twitter Competitor?

Dream - Former Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, is reportedly about to launch a public beta version of his new social media network, Bluesky.

Dorsey left Twitter in 2021. Now, Twitter is officially owned by SpaceX and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, who bought it for $44 billion or around Rp687 trillion.

Dorsey revealed that the Bluesky app is now ready for testing. This app already has a list of users waiting to try the beta version.

It is not yet clear what Blueksky will be like or how it will function, but it is said to be a competitor to Twitter.

Bluesky is said to be an important element of a revolutionary "federated social network" that integrates ideas from the latest decentralized technologies into a simple, fast, and open network.

Thus, it will be a social network that will be managed by various sites.

“We call the app we are building Bluesky because it will be a portal to a world of possibilities through the AT Protocol,” said Jack Dorsey, as quoted from the Greek Reporter, Monday, November 1, 2022.

Bluesky users will be able to freely move between various social media platforms using just one browser.

Bluesky was actually established by Twitter in 2019.

“The larger long-term goal is to build a lasting open protocol for public conversation. This is not yet owned by any app,” wrote Dorsey.

According to Dorsey, the next step is to start testing the protocol.

“Developing a distributed protocol is a complex process. It requires coordination from many parties after the network is deployed, so we will start with a private beta version to address the complexities,” explained Dorsey.

“As we conduct beta testing, we will continue to refine the protocol specifications and share details about how it works. When it's ready, we will switch to an open beta version,” he added.

Speaking about whether the network will be a competitor to Twitter, Dorsey wrote in a tweet earlier this month that this app is a competitor to any company that tries to have the underlying foundations of social media or the data of people who use it.

However, this new social network owned by Dorsey is Twitter. This is because Kanye West, a controversial rapper, has regained his account on Twitter.

However, Musk claimed that he did not play a role in Kanye West's return. According to him, the account was restored before Musk completed the purchase of Twitter.

As a result, several A-list celebrity users have announced that they will stop using Twitter.
