Laznas BMH Distributes Rp235 Billion in 2022 to 1.7 Million Mustahik

Dream - National Zakat Agency (Laznas) Baitul Maal Hidayatullah has distributed Rp235 billion in 2022. The funds were given to 1,177,804 mustahik or beneficiaries through four programs.

"BMH has implemented various programs in various sectors such as da'wah, education, economy, and social humanitarian," said Chairman of Laznas BMH, Firman ZA, in Jakarta, Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Firman explained that there were 442,607 beneficiaries in the Da'wah program, 201,680 beneficiaries in the Education sector, then 11,124 beneficiaries in the Economic field, and 52,393 in the Social Humanitarian field.

"In implementing its programs, BMH collaborates with various stakeholders, including the government, private sector, and society, in order to create change in society," he added.

118 Service Offices

The CEO of Laznas BMH, Suspendi, said that BMH's presence is already spread across 34 provinces in Indonesia, targeting remote areas up to 3T, with 118 service offices.

"The expansion of this network is not solely for the organization's interests. The expansion of this network is part of an effort to ensure that the blessings of zakat can reach our brothers and sisters in various parts of the archipelago," he said.

Since its establishment in 2001, BMH has obtained Approval Decree from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag). Suspendi ensures that all of its service offices are legal and their management can be accounted for.

2023 Target

Suspendi added that the target for the growth of funds in 2023 for the zakat institution, which has been established since 2001, is 12 percent.

"Insha Allah, we target a growth of 12 percent or 315 billion from the previous year," he said.

He explained that BMH's core programs are da'wah and education, with the ultimate goal of all BMH programs being related to the process of enlightenment and education.

"We believe that the success of a Zakat Amil Institution is not only measured by how many mustahik are brought to become muzakki, but we believe that one of the successes of a Zakat Amil Institution is being able to bring the mustahik closer to their Lord," explained Suspendi.

The breakdown of beneficiaries presented by Suspendi is as follows:

Education Program

• Indonesian children scholarships: 70,520 people
• Great teachers: 286 people
• Quran memorization scholarships: 4,140 people
• Education facilities: 5,125 people
• Schools without boundaries: 640 people

Da'wah Program

• Kafalah dai: 658 people
• Empowered dai: 142 people
• Quran houses: 8,734 people
• Inland converts: 1,457 people
• Da'wah facilities: 1,712 people

Social Humanitarian Program

• Nutrition care: 4,575 people
• Smile for orphans and underprivileged children: 72,934 people
• Artisan wells: 123 with 33,892 beneficiaries
• Archipelago care: 58,349 people
• Humanitarian solidarity: 1,734 people
• Blessed circumcision: 1,147 children

Empowerment Program

• Empowered pesantren: 2,174 people
• Great mothers' schools: 442 people
• Blessed stalls: 112 people
• Empowerment clusters: 1,805 people

Domestic Sacrifice Program

• Cows: 852 heads
• Goats: 4,662 heads
• Total beneficiaries: 182,442 people

International Sacrifice Program

• Cows: 40 heads
• Sheep and goats: 1,943 heads
• Total beneficiaries: 30,470 people
