Dream - The Ministry of Religious Affairs urges that the emergence of fake QRIS stickers in mosque areas will not reduce the public's routine in giving donations and alms. The case that occurred should be a lesson for being more careful in using QRIS.
The advice was conveyed by Kasubdit Kemasjidan, Directorate General of Islamic Guidance, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Akmal Salim Ruhana, following the viral action of a man sticking QRIS stickers on several mosques in Jakarta.
Akmal advised worshipers to first ensure that the destination account listed in the barcode scanning application is the mosque's account, not an individual's name.
"Mosque worshipers need to be more careful when giving donations through QRIS. Check the destination account name. It should be the same as the mosque's name, not an individual's name. Make sure of that," he emphasized.

Akmal asserted that the forgery of the barcode is a criminal act of embezzling public funds. The donations from worshipers are not sent to the mosque's account but instead go into the perpetrator's account.
"This is clearly a crime, fraud, and embezzlement of public funds," said Akmal when contacted by reporters on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
He stated that the occurrence of this case should be a lesson for worshipers to be more careful and not use it as an excuse to not give donations in the mosque.
In addition, Akmal hopes that this case will also encourage mosque administrators to continue improving their mastery of digital technology.
"Hopefully, this case will serve as a lesson for us to be more vigilant and tech-savvy, not as a reason to be unwilling to donate in mosques. The digitization of mosque finances (through the use of QRIS) which serves for financial transparency of mosques needs to be continuously pursued," he concluded.
