Police say the incident occurred at a school in the village of Khubbapur, Muzaffarnagar city, Uttar Pradesh state, India.

Police say they have initiated an investigation into allegations that a teacher instructed several students to slap a Muslim student for not memorizing the multiplication table. He is also heard expelling the 7-year-old boy.

"I have stated that all Muslim children must leave," said the teacher named Trapta Tyagi in the video as reported by Al Jazeera.

A male voice in the video is heard agreeing with the teacher.

"You're right, it ruins education," the male voice says as the victim stands in front of the class in fear.

The victim's parent, Mohammad Altamash, said the incident occurred on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

"Yesterday my child came home crying. He is traumatized. This is not how you treat children," said Rubina.

"His teacher asked his classmates to slap my child one by one. The teacher justified his actions by saying that my child did not memorize the lessons. My child is good at his studies. We fail to understand why the teacher treated him like this. It seems like the teacher is full of hatred," added his father.

Police in India have urged social media users not to share the video. Many have hurled insults at the teacher.

"All Indian citizens should hang their heads in shame because all our constitutional rights and freedoms can be reduced like this," said Congress MP Shashi Tharoor in response to the video.

The other students immediately laughed at their teacher who could only stand there unable to pronounce the unique name.

After the video went viral, the teacher from a private school in Karawang, West Java, shared the continuation of the story.

According to Kiki, Reva means beautiful. Meanwhile, Averoesy is taken from the name of the Muslim genius scientist Ibnu Rusyd, who is known in Europe as Averroes.

Ibnu Rusyd was an expert in Islamic law, philosophy, physics, medicine, language, and astronomy.

Meanwhile, the words Veisa and Qireina are taken from the Sanskrit language, which respectively mean intelligent and extraordinary.

His last name, Mulawarman, is inspired by the name of the most famous king of the Kutai Kingdom in his time.
