Dream - The Saudi Arabian security authority detained 37 Indonesian citizens in Madinah on Saturday, June 1, 2024. They are suspected of intending to perform the Hajj but only have a pilgrimage visa.
Said Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah Yusron B. Ambarie in Mecca, quoted from Liputan6.com, Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Dozens of Indonesian citizens used fake hajj attributes that have been used by official Indonesian hajj pilgrims. This was revealed from the security authorities' examination results. "Fake hajj bracelets, fake ID cards, and there are also those who forged hajj visas," said Yusron.
According to Yusron, they flew from Indonesia to Doha, then to Riyadh. During the journey to Madinah, the Saudi Arabian police conducted a check and found them suspected of intending to perform Hajj.
From the 37 people, there is a coordinator with the initials SJ. He uses a multiple visa that is valid for one year. Besides SJ, Yusron continued, there is another coordinator who is being hunted by the police with the initials TL.

According to him, before the arrest of these 37 people, there were also 19 people who were detained but released again because it was not proven that they would perform the Hajj.
"They claimed that they will go to their family in Jeddah, the KJRI team managed to assist them in being released. We ask them to return home immediately and not attempt to perform the Hajj," he said. As for the 22 people who were arrested in Bir Ali while going to take the miqat, he said, they will fly back to the homeland tonight."
Yusron once again urged the Indonesian people to comply with the regulations set by the Saudi Arabian government. Moreover, the imposed sanctions are severe, namely a fine of 10,000 riyals, deportation, and a 10-year ban. Meanwhile, for the coordinators, the punishment is even more severe, with a fine of 50,000 riyals, six months of detention, and a 10-year ban from entering Saudi Arabia. "Let us obey the regulations of the Saudi Arabian government, so that our hajj money does not go to waste," he added.
