He mentioned that the lawyers came from the Cirebon, Indramayu, Brebes, Kuningan, Jakarta, Bandung, Majalengka regions, and even from outside Jabodetabek. Toni said, many lawyers offered themselves to become a legal team, believing that Pegi Setiawan is not involved in the murder of Vina and Eki. He explained that a lawyer would not immediately accept a client without considering the legal basis as a consideration.

Before making a decision, they will analyze what constitutes the code of conduct if one wants to defend someone or a client, there must be a legal basis. And based on the analysis of the lawyers, they believe that Pegi Setiawan is not Pegi alias Perong. "So we (the lawyers) are convinced that Pegi Setiawan is innocent, that is the basis," he said.

Toni explained, the payslip is proof of payment for 8 workers, including Pegi Setiawan. In that payslip, there is a recorded amount of Rp5.3 million for 8 workers that Pegi's father received on August 26, 2016, and September 2, 2016.

"It means that if one person returns or is not present, then the amount is not Rp5.3 million, including Pegi Setiawan's belongings," he said. He assessed that the salary slip evidence strongly supports Pegi to prove that he is not involved in the murder incident in 2016 that resulted in the deaths of 2 victims. In addition, the statement from the owner of the boarding house where Pegi was located in Bandung also serves as supporting evidence. "This strengthens (the salary slip) and the boarding house owner in Ketapang also strengthens it, as they have been examined by the investigators," he said."

The legal steps that will be taken as evidence of defense against Pegi, Toni, and other legal team members will conduct a Special Case Hearing. Considering that Pegi, who is currently at the West Java Regional Police, is still under investigation.
