In Islam, there are specific provisions regarding how a Muslim man and woman can build a romantic relationship without violating the Shariah law. Islam emphasizes the importance of taaruf (getting to know each other) and marriage, as both are considered in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Quran and hadith provide detailed guidance on the proper way to engage with the opposite gender without violating Islamic law. The hadith that discusses how unmarried couples should interact holds profound meaning and should be known by every Muslim as a guide in finding a life partner.

This process involves many considerations because marriage is considered a sacred promise that is expected to last until death separates them."

Because if men and women are alone together, then Satan will be present to whisper disgraceful things. "A man should never be alone with a woman, for Satan will be the third." From Jarir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, he said, "I asked the Messenger of Allah (SAW) about unintentional glances. He commanded me to avert my gaze." The above hadith explains that a woman is prohibited from looking at a man with desire. But if she looks at him without desire, then it is allowed. This also applies to men who are not allowed to look at women with desire.

Rasulullah SAW bersabda: إِذَا زَنَى الرَّجُلُ خَرَجَ مِنْهُ الإِيمَانُ كَالظُّلَّةِ فَإِذَا انْقَطَعَ رَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ الإِيمَانُJika seseorang itu berzina, maka iman itu keluar dari dirinya seakan-akan dirinya sedang diliputi oleh gumpalan awan (di atas kepalanya). Jika dia lepas dari zina, maka iman itu akan kembali padanya. (HR. Abu Daud dan Tirmidzi)
