The following is the translation of the 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "An extraordinary plant known by its Latin name Silphium, which was previously believed to have been extinct for 2,000 years, has recently been rediscovered in Turkey."
This plant used to be frequently consumed by the people of ancient Greece, Egypt, and Rome. Known for its golden flower, Silphium was once the most sought-after plant in the Mediterranean region, even before the emergence of the Athenian and Roman Empires.
The following is the translation of the text from 'Bahasa' to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "Plants with yellow flowers have several benefits. Thousands of years ago, ancient societies processed the flowers of this plant by grinding, burning, stir-frying, and boiling them for medicinal purposes, food consumption, and even as a contraceptive tool. During the reign of Julius Caesar, hundreds of kilograms of this plant were stored together with gold in the Roman palace. At that time, the value of this plant was equivalent to the value of silver."
Seven centuries after first being discovered growing on the island of Cyrenaica in present-day Libya, silphion experienced a decline in the ancient Mediterranean region.
However, recently, Mahmut Miski, a researcher from Istanbul University, estimated that he has rediscovered this ancient plant. He believes that Ferula Drudeana growing on Mount Hasan is silphion.
According to a report from National Geographic, Miski found similarities between silphion and Ferula Drudeana that correspond to ancient botanical texts, as well as images of plants found on ancient Greek coins.
Even though it is found that both of these plants have thick branching roots and similar yellow flowers.
The Ferula plant is found in two locations in Turkey, one of which is in an area that was once inhabited by ancient Greek communities thousands of years ago. The other location is situated in Cappadocia.
