Dream - During the past pandemic, several pharmaceutical companies competed to develop the Covid-19 vaccine, one of which is AstraZeneca. The Covid-19 vaccine from the British company is used in many countries, including Indonesia.
A shocking fact has just been revealed in April 2024. AstraZeneca UK admitted that their Covid-19 vaccine can cause rare side effects that can be fatal.
The side effect is Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS). Quoted from The Telegraph, the admission only emerged when the company faced legal action over allegations of significant harm and deaths caused by the vaccine. There was a patient who experienced TTS. TTS is thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, which is the presence of blood clots in the brain or elsewhere, accompanied by a low platelet count. This is known to occur in very rare cases after certain types of vaccines and also due to other causes.
"Although COVID vaccines have prevented many deaths, reports of very rare but potentially serious adverse events caused by this immunity have also been published in prestigious journals," said Dr. Rajeev Jayadevan, Deputy Chairman of the COVID Task Force, Indian Medical Association National, Kerala.
AstraZeneca, which is working together with the University of Oxford to develop the vaccine, is currently undergoing a legal process initiated by the victims and their families. One of the cases involves Jamie Scott, a father of two, who took legal action after suffering from blood clots that rendered him unable to work. Scott claims that after receiving the vaccination in April 2021, he experienced "blood clots and bleeding in his brain," resulting in prolonged brain injury. "The medical world has long recognized that vaccine-induced immune thrombocytopenia and thrombosis (VITT) are caused by the vaccine," said Kate, Scott's wife.
AstraZeneca initially informed lawyer Scott in May 2023 that they did not acknowledge TTS being caused by vaccines in general. In the legal document submitted to the High Court, the multinational pharmaceutical company suggested, "acknowledging that the AZ vaccine, in very rare cases, can cause TTS. The mechanism of its cause is unknown."
Kate has demanded an apology and fair compensation for their family and other affected families, and emphasized that it took three years to gain recognition from AstraZeneca.
Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS) is a very rare condition characterized by the formation of blood clots (thrombosis) and low platelet count (thrombocytopenia). This is also known as vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT).
Thrombosis occurs when a blood clot forms in the blood vessels, which can obstruct blood flow. Thrombocytopenia is a condition where there is a low number of platelets in the blood. Platelets play an important role in clotting, which helps prevent excessive bleeding.
The connection between TTS and the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine was discovered after the release of the Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccine. Researchers found a relationship between the vaccine and VITT. The plaintiff's lawyer argued that VITT is part of TTS, a distinction that was initially not acknowledged by AstraZeneca.
