Dream - In a household, there will always be problems that arise. Whether they are small problems or big problems. However, every husband and wife have their own ways to solve their problems. One of them is a wife who sometimes keeps quiet when there is a conflict between them. The choice to keep quiet to the husband surely has its own reasons. For example, wanting to calm oneself first until feeling embarrassed to apologize or initiate a conversation.
"But, what if viewed from an Islamic perspective regarding a wife who remains silent towards her husband? Here is an explanation about the law concerning a wife remaining silent towards her husband as summarized by Dream through various sources."
"Law of Avoidance"
The wife who remains silent when there is a problem with her husband, this is also known as hajr attitude.
As explained in Islamic teachings, it is forbidden (haram) to sever ties if it lasts for more than three days. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: "It is not permissible for a Muslim to cut off ties with his brother for more than three nights. They meet, and then one turns away and the other also turns away. The best of the two is the one who initiates the greeting." (HR. Bukhari and Muslim) In the case of a wife remaining silent towards her husband, with the condition of avoiding arguments, then this silent attitude is allowed.
The following is the translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "It should be done so that husbands and wives can introspect themselves. As explained by Muhammad Ibnu Sahroji, who is a candidate for a Doctor of Islamic Law at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta. In addition, the Prophet Muhammad also explained that if one of the married couples is angry, then their partner should remain silent. "If one of you is angry, let him remain silent." (HR. Bukhari)"
Although allowed, it is better if the attitude of silence does not last long. Because husband and wife will be better if they communicate every problem that occurs in the household heart to heart.
Wife's Attitude when Conflicting with Husband According to Islamic Teachings
"Islam provides guidance on how a wife should behave when facing conflicts with her husband. Some main principles that can be followed are as follows:"
1. Patience and Calm
Islam highly encourages patience and calmness in facing all forms of tests, including domestic conflicts. A wife is expected not to hastily get angry or speak harshly, but rather to calm herself down and think clearly.
2. Avoid Prolonged Arguments
Rasulullah saw taught not to prolong quarrels. If there is a dispute, it is better to resolve it immediately in a good and wise manner.
3. Prioritizing Good Dialogue and Communication
In the Qur'an, Allah SWT teaches the importance of consultation (shura). A wife should strive to have a dialogue with her husband, express her feelings in a good manner, and seek solutions together.
4. Respecting and Obeying Husband
"Islam emphasizes the importance of a wife to respect her husband as long as it does not violate Islamic law. This attitude of respect includes speaking and acting in a gentle and loving manner."
5. Praying and Seeking Guidance from Allah
In every difficult situation, a Muslimah is encouraged to always pray and seek guidance from Allah. By praying, the heart becomes more peaceful and solutions from Allah can come.
6. Using Common Sense and Wisdom
"Islam teaches the importance of using reason and wisdom in making decisions. A wife should think carefully before acting or speaking in a conflict."
7. Requesting Advice from Third Parties if Needed
"If the conflict remains unresolved, Islam allows seeking advice from individuals considered wise and trustworthy, such as scholars or fair community leaders."
By following this guide, it is hoped that conflicts between husband and wife can be resolved in a good way, so that the household remains harmonious and blessed by Allah SWT.
