Latest Research, Dinosaurs Used to Have Feathers on Their Bodies
Scientific knowledge continues to evolve regarding various forms of dinosaurs through each significant discovery in various locations such as China, America, Antarctica, and other places. This includes knowledge about their feathers.
During their heyday in the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods, dinosaurs underwent evolution to fill various roles in different ecosystems.
There are some that are large, small, walk on land, amphibious, and there are even dinosaurs that have the ability to fly.

Science concludes that the only living descendants of dinosaurs today are birds.
A surprising development in paleontology is the discovery that many dinosaurs had feathers.
The current structure of bird feathers consists of a rachis as the central shaft, equipped with paired barbs that sequentially form a flat and usually curved surface, known as the vane. Barbs branch into barbules, and the barbules of adjacent barbs are connected by hooks, which strengthen the vane.
In most birds, some or all feathers do not have barbules or hooks, so they appear like loose hair.

Initially, birds had a simple, straight, dense, filamentous precursor feather structure, primarily consisting of keratin. Over time, this structure evolved into a branched form, then into soft downy feathers, which in some forms had a shaft and then disappeared. As time passed, this branched condition transformed into a central shaft with vanes on both sides, and these vanes then evolved into barbs.
The first discovery of dinosaur fossils with feather-like structures occurred in the 1990s, and other discoveries followed thereafter.
In 2011, several studies suggested that all dinosaurs may have had some type of feather covering on at least some parts of their bodies.
Although dinosaurs are estimated to have appeared about 245 million years ago, dinosaurs with feathers are estimated to be only 180 million years old.
The discovery has changed the concept of dinosaurs, revealing that most of them had a variety of feather coverings on their bodies, although not all dinosaurs were like that.
