Dream - Treasurer of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), Sumantri Suwarno, responded to the issue of the NU logo being parodied as 'ulama nambang' (gold-digging clerics). According to Sumantri, the action of netizens mocking the NU logo has gone too far. Because, the logo is the result of the thoughts of the kiai (Islamic scholars) and the pride of millions of NU members.

"The NU symbol is the result of the thoughts of the Kyai and the pride of millions of NU citizens, who are also part of the guardians of Indonesia until today. If you have any hatred, it may be misdirected. Criticize the ideas and decisions of PBNU, but don't go beyond that," said Sumantri in a post from the account X @mantriss. Sumantri explained that NU and Muhammadiyah have been educating millions of Indonesian children long before this country was formed."

Sumantri admitted to never feeling worthy of insulting any organization, especially organizations that have contributed to the struggle for Indonesian independence. "With all its shortcomings, I have never felt worthy of insulting NU and Muhammadiyah. The track record and long work of both organizations are too significant to be mocked by some people who have never even established a one-class school," he said.

"So if you want to mock NU and feel that your contribution is greater, please go ahead," he added. Previously, there was a circulating NU logo being parodied on social media. The ornament part had nine stars with the words Rp and US Dollar. Then there was the inscription 'Ulama Nambang'."

Seeing this, Surabaya resident, Ali Mahfud reported the account X @pasifisstate to the police for alleged harassment against the symbol of NU. As a Nahdliyin, he feels concerned that there are irresponsible parties who distort the logo of the ulama organization.
