Dream - Istikharah prayer plays an important role for a Muslim when faced with a choice. Where that choice usually makes someone feel confused about determining what is best for them. Meanwhile, the best choice is Allah's choice. Therefore, it should be surrendered to Allah through prayer and istikharah prayer. Istikharah prayer is not only to determine matters of marriage. But also other choices. Such as the university to be chosen, job, and so on.

Allahumma shalli wa sallim 'alā sayyidina muhammadin, Alhamdulillāhi rabbil 'ālamīn. Allahumma innī astakhīruka bi 'ilmika, wa astaqdiruka bi qudratika, wa as-aluka min fadhlika, fa innaka taqdiru wa lā aqdiru, wa ta'lamu wa lā a'lamu, wa anta 'allāmul ghuyūb.

"O Allah, if You know that this matter is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the end result of my affair, then decree it for me, facilitate it for me, and bless me in it. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the end result of my affair, then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it, and decree for me the good wherever it may be, and make me content with it. Indeed, You are the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful. And may the blessings of Allah be upon our master Muhammad, and upon the family of our master Muhammad, and upon the companions of our master Muhammad, and upon all of the creation of Allah, the Lord of all the worlds."

Translation: "Meaning: "O Allah, indeed I seek guidance with Your knowledge, I seek strength with Your power, I ask from You with Your nobility. Indeed, You decree while I am unable to do so. You are the All-Knowing, while I am unaware. You are the Knower of the unseen matters. O Allah, if You know that this matter is good for me in terms of my religion, life, final matters, world, and hereafter, then decree it for me. Make it easy for me and bless it for me."

"O Allah, if You know that this matter is bad for my religion, life, final affairs, faith, and hereafter, then turn me away from it and turn it away from me. Destine the best for me, whatever the circumstances may be. Indeed, You are the Most Able over all things."

Explained by Syekh Muhammad az-Zabidi, the guidance is in the form of making the path easier and providing a good ending. However, if according to Allah SWT it is not good, then we will find it difficult to do it. This is explained in Ithafus Sadatil Muttaqin as follows: "If in the matter we want to do it is considered good according to Allah, then Allah will make the path easier and also provide a good ending. On the other hand, if according to Allah it is not good, then we will be made difficult to do it. In this second condition, we should not regret because we find it difficult to achieve it, because fundamentally Allah has given us something better."
