Syaikh Dr. Shalih bin Ghanim As Sadlan hafizhahullah in Fiqhuz Zawaj explained about the ruling on attending a wedding invitation: "The scholars unanimously agree on the permissibility of attending a wedding walimah specifically. Some consider it obligatory with the ruling of fardhu 'ain for everyone who is invited. However, if there is an excuse (hindrance), it is allowed not to attend. Meanwhile, Syaikhul Islam Ibn Taimiyah ruled it as recommended. Women are also instructed to attend unless there is a situation of kholwat, which means mixing with the opposite sex that is prohibited."

"Even the command to attend a wedding invitation is also directed to someone who is fasting. Although they cannot participate in enjoying the meals provided, they can still attend to give prayers to the couple. This is as explained in a hadith narrated by Muslim as follows: 'If one of you is invited to a meal, let him accept the invitation. If he is not fasting, then let him eat. And if he is fasting, then let him pray.' (Narrated by Muslim)."

When attending a wedding invitation, you can recite the following prayer to bless the couple's married life with goodness and blessings. Here is the prayer for the bride and groom when attending a wedding invitation: "بَارَكَ اللهُ لَكُمْ وَاحِدًا مِنَّا فِي صَاحِبِهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا وَخَيْرَ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ" (May Allah bless you and your spouse. O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of it and the goodness that You have made upon it, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil that You have made upon it).

"If Sahabat Dream receives a wedding invitation, it is recommended to attend the walimah. Not only giving congratulations, but also reciting prayers when attending the wedding to pray for the couple to become a family that is blessed, loving, and full of mercy until Jannah. Quoting from the book Al-Adzkar al-Muntakhabah min Kalami Sayyid al-Abrar by Muhyiddin Abu Zakaria Yahya bin Syaraf al-Nawawi al-Dimasyqi, here is a prayer when attending a wedding for the goodness of the couple:"

Baarakallahu laka wa jama’a bainakuma fi khairin.
Baarakallahu likulli wahidin minkuma fi shahibihi wa jama’a bainakuma fi khairin.
Meaning: "May Allah bless you. And may Allah gather both of you in goodness. May Allah bless each of you with a partner and may Allah gather both of you in goodness."
