Dream - Rohingya refugees are reportedly fleeing from the shelter in the Aceh Regent Office complex on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in the early morning.
Head of the Field of Security and Order of the West Aceh Public Order Agency, Arsil, said that they fled around 03.00 to 05.00 AM WIB.
According to Arsil, the refugees whose existence had sparked controversy took advantage of the situation only when it was raining. It happened that the duty members who were on guard were sleeping due to exhaustion. Then, when they woke up in the morning, the tents were already empty without any Rohingya refugees.

He called the fleeing refugees a total of 27 people. In two tents set up behind the West Aceh regent's office. There are no remaining Rohingya refugee items except for a few pieces of clothing and sleeping mats.
One day before on Friday, May 31, 2024, Arsil said that dozens of Rohingya refugees had also escaped from the temporary shelter. Arsil admitted that they did not yet know if there were any parties assisting their escape.
"Everyone (Rohingya refugees) has now fled. There are no more in West Aceh,"
He said.
"Previously, a wooden boat carrying Rohingya refugees capsized in the waters of West Aceh, in March 2024. A total of 75 people were successfully rescued by the joint search and rescue team and accommodated in West Aceh. However, later on, one by one, those Rohingya ethnicities escaped."
