Dream - Not many women are willing to be polygamous with their husbands because it involves feelings and economics. Women do not want to be involved in polygamy because they are afraid of being neglected by the first wife.
"Not only that, women are not willing to be in a polygamous relationship because they are worried that their husband may not be fair in providing for the family."
However, it is different if a woman is taken as a second wife by a married man who has not yet been blessed with children. Just like the story of an Indonesian woman who married a Malaysian man who is already married. The woman named Elsa Elviana shared her life story as a second wife.
Initially, Elsa always blamed herself for being in between a married couple who seemed happy. Especially when Elsa married a much older man. Meanwhile, she got married at a very young age.
"Baru Seminggu Nikah Ditinggal Sang Suami" translates to "Only a Week After Marriage, Left by the Husband" in English.
"Only a week after getting married, Elsa has already felt the bitterness of being a second wife. The reason being, her husband has to return to Malaysia. 'Getting married at a young age and being left alone after just one week of marriage because my husband has to work,' she expressed."
"Always Take a Photo Every Time the Husband Wants to Return to Malaysia"
The husband returned not only to work, but also to his first wife whom he had to take care of. Every time the husband wanted to go back to Malaysia, Elsa had to take his photo to cure her longing because he was away for a long time. However, even though she was left for quite a long time by her husband, Elsa accepted it with an open heart because it was his choice.
"Always Blaming Yourself"
However, Elsa sometimes thinks of blaming herself. She seems to be destroying a seemingly happy household.
"Feeling Dilemma But All of This is His Life Choice"
"Always blaming myself whether I am wrong to be in the midst of a family that I see as very happy." But all of this is my choice to accept and I also bear the consequences even though they are heavy," she said."
In short, Elsa finally became pregnant with their first child, eagerly anticipated by the first husband and wife.
"Unfortunately, Elsa was mostly alone during her first pregnancy. Meetings with her husband could even be counted on one hand. 'During the 9-month pregnancy, maybe we only met 4 times, and here I am, pregnant alone and far away, and I accept all of this,' she explained."
Just like a wife left for a long time, Elsa couldn't bear it because she had to maintain a long-distance marriage with her husband. "Again and again blaming herself, and always saying that I won't be able to handle all of this. We always have to be apart because my husband has to work," she said.
"Husband Comes to Indonesia with First Wife"
The arrival of her first husband and wife, whom she called Umi, to accompany her in giving birth. Elsa gave birth to a child whom she named Mica.
Because she couldn't bear to have a long-distance marriage while having a newborn baby, Elsa followed her husband and his first wife to Malaysia. When they went to Malaysia, Mica was only 40 days old. But Elsa was very grateful because the first wife warmly accepted her when they arrived in Malaysia.
"Second Marriage Goals"
"Elsa then revealed her husband's reason for remarrying. Apparently, his goal is to have offspring. 'Now, we have fulfilled Abi's dream even though Miza is not born from Umi's womb.' But I believe Umi will love Mica like her own child," she said.
Elsa then tells the story of when she married a much older husband. She admits to receiving insults and ridicule from those around her because she became a second wife. "No matter how many people insult us, even though we have a significant age difference, it is not an obstacle for me to still call Mica's father. Even though they always say we look like grandfather and granddaughter," Elsa explains.
Elsa revealed that her husband has been waiting for the presence of a child in their marriage with his first wife for 37 years.
"Hoping Husband is Always Happy and Healthy"
"Stay healthy, abi, may Allah grant happiness to abi. This is what abi has been hoping for for 37 years, abi should experience this happiness for even longer, abi is a good person," he concluded.
