However, the story of the following employee is different, as she feels stressed because she is paid but not given any tasks. A French woman is suing Orange on charges of 'moral harassment and workplace discrimination'.

Laurence Van Wassenhove was recruited as a permanent employee by France Telecom in 1993 before the company was taken over by Orange. The company where Laurence first worked knew that she was suffering from hemiplegia, a disease that causes partial paralysis in the face and limbs.

Report from the occupational doctor confirms that all positions in his new place are not suitable for him. Nevertheless, Orange did not make any adjustments to Laurence's job as France Telecom did. Instead, the company prefers to pay Laurence's full salary for the next 20 years without giving him any tasks.

Although Orange tries to ignore Van Wassenhove, this disabled woman feels harassed and discriminated against. She tries to report her situation to the government and the High Authority for cases of Resistance against Discrimination.

Laurence has filed a complaint against the company and its four managers for allegations of 'moral harassment and workplace discrimination related to his health condition'. In this case, Laurence Van Wassenhove is slowly being sidelined by being 'put on the shelf' for 20 years in the hope that he will quit.

The company also claimed to have considered the woman's 'personal social situation' and paid her full salary continuously, plus some non-refundable assistance. Orange also planned to reinstate Laurence in an adjusted position. However, this never materialized because the woman often took sick leave.
