Israel's anger towards Sinwar has led them to label the man as a "dead man walking." This English idiom means an individual living in anticipation of execution. Unlike Haniyeh, who is known to reside in Qatar, Sinwar's whereabouts are difficult to trace. Sinwar rarely shows himself in public, especially after the war broke out on October 7, 2023. According to research by Leila Seurat from the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (CAREP), not only is his presence elusive, but every war strategy devised by Sinwar is crafted in secrecy.
