Dream - Since birth, everyone cannot choose their own religion because it has been inherited from their parents. However, as one grows older, they have the right to choose the religious belief they desire.
Usually, people who convert religions have their own reasons. Generally, the reasons someone chooses to change their beliefs are due to guidance or marriage. The phenomenon of changing religions not only occurs among ordinary people but also among important figures.
One of them is Selvi Ananda, the wife of vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Selvi converted to Islam a few months before marrying Jokowi's eldest son.
Former Putri Solo in 2009 started to convert to Islam on February 20, 2015. She recited the two sentences of the Shahada at Istiqlal Mosque.
Apparently, before embracing Islam, Selvi practiced the Catholic religion with her family. However, as she grew older, Selvi started a new chapter in her life by converting to Islam.
The decision of Selvi to convert to Islam in close proximity to her marriage with Gibran has caused negative speculation in the community. However, Selvi disregards such matters and focuses on the life she is currently living.
When marrying Gibran, Selvi, who has a different religion from her parents, must be represented by someone else. This is because, according to Islam, a woman's marriage guardian with different beliefs can be represented by a judge guardian.
Selvi was then married to Gibran by a guardian judge who came from the Head Office of Religious Affairs in Banjarsari, Surakarta, named Mukhtaroji.
