Dream - Mudik has become a routine tradition for Indonesian society as the holiday approaches. The large number of people returning to their hometowns causes public transportation ticket prices to become expensive and even limited. Mudik travelers usually willingly buy tickets well in advance to get more affordable prices. Some people even have unique ways to make their mudik journey more economical.
Like what was done by a content creator man in a video on the Tiktok account @dekjaww. The man shows the moment when he is at the airport to go back to his hometown in Aceh for the homecoming journey.
Uniquely, the man used a passport even though his hometown is still in Indonesia. Apparently, he did this to get cheaper travel expenses for going back to his hometown. "Going back to the hometown must use a passport, guys. Do you guys use a passport to go back to the hometown? It seems like only me. It's a pity for us, the citizens from the edge of the country, we have to use a passport to go back to the hometown, guys. Even though it's still in Indonesia," said the man while showing his passport.
The man told about his journey route from Jakarta to Aceh, but he had to transit in Malaysia first. This condition made him have to bring his passport because it was considered as leaving Indonesia even though it was only for transit.
"So we bought plane tickets to get a cheaper price. So, from Jakarta, we transit in Kuala Lumpur and then finally return to Aceh, guys," he explained.
"Even though the travel route he took had to be roundabout, this man was willing to do it in order to get tickets at a cheap price. 'Because if I were to buy directly from Jakarta to Aceh, it would be very expensive. So, the alternative way is for me to have a transit in Kuala Lumpur to get a cheaper ticket price, guys,' he concluded."
The upload has garnered various responses from netizens on the social media platform TikTok. Many netizens also shared the confusion regarding domestic flight ticket prices being higher than international ones.
"“PLEASE SHARE THIS, DOMESTIC TICKETS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE,” wrote user @happyjunita. “It's still a mystery why domestic flights are more expensive than international flights,” revealed user @jknoona14. “Brother, you're not alone. I paid 3.5 million for Balikpapan-Pekanbaru and 1.1 million for Balikpapan-Kuala Lumpur-Pekanbaru. Haha,” added user @cicaayyyyy. Author: Nisya Aprilya"
