"Unique prehistoric rock art has been found in the Andriamamelo Cave in western Madagascar. The first pictorial art depicting images of nature with human-like figures and animals can be seen on the island. To date, rock art in Madagascar has produced only a few sites with basic symbols."
Archaeological discoveries reveal the existence of cultural connections.
This dramatic discovery contains several surprises, including hints of an extraordinary cultural connection. First, the scenes depicted in several cases are directly related to the religious motifs of Egypt from the Ptolemaic period (300-30 BC). Second, another conclusion from the symbols and writings on the walls indicates a connection with the world of Ethiopia and Afro-Arab cultures. Lastly, the symbology and motifs commonly evoke the cave art style of Kalimantan that is two millennia old.
An additional surprise is the presence of depictions of at least three extinct animals from Madagascar, believed to have been extinct for centuries. These animals include the giant sloth lemur, the elephant bird, and the giant tortoise.
"Over the years, it has been believed that the society, language, and culture of Madagascar are rooted in a long-standing relationship with Kalimantan, an island in Southeast Asia, combined with strong influences from East Africa."

Art Objects in the Madagascar Cave.
The research team created digital copies and hand drawings of 72 cave art objects, which are depicted with black pigments. These objects involve 16 animals, six human forms, two human-animal hybrid forms, two geometric designs, 16 examples of M-shaped symbols, as well as many other unclear patterns and shapes.
"Eight main images indicate a connection to Egypt, including the eagle symbolizing Horus, the bird-headed god Thoth, the ostrich goddess Ma`at, and two human-animal figures resembling Anubis."
The presence of the number M scattered everywhere remains a mystery. Further research indicates the possibility that these numbers are only aligned with the letter "hawt" (\u1210) in the ancient Ethiopian Amharic alphabet, which is pronounced as "ha".
"However, surprisingly, we also found this symbol in cave art in Kalimantan that is estimated to be around 2,000 years old, and it was not found in other cave art or rock formations in the Indo-Pacific region."
"In several Austronesian languages (a diverse language family that stretches from Malagasy in the west to Hawaii and Rapa Nui in the Pacific), the word "ha" is a term for "breath of life"."

"All the possibilities of this relationship remind us that the society, language, and culture of Madagascar are syncretic, blending African and Asian influences to produce a unique Malagasy society."
