Dream - One thing that can invalidate fasting is engaging in sexual intercourse. Even if it is done by married couples. However, Islam does not prohibit married couples who want to engage in sexual intercourse at night when they are no longer fasting. However, this must be done with caution. Because during the month of Ramadan, Dream's friends must observe fasting every day for a full month. So, make sure you have purified yourself before observing fasting.
Then, if you have intimate relations during the night of Ramadan, should you take a shower first or immediately start the pre-dawn meal (sahur)? Well, to find out the answer, here is as summarized by Dream through various sources.
"When a husband and wife engage in intimate relations during the month of Ramadan, it is not necessary to prioritize obligatory bathing or having pre-dawn meal in this matter."
Explained by Sheikh Al Qadli Abu Syuja' in the book Matn Al Taqrib: "It is forbidden for a person in a state of janabah (ritual impurity after sexual intercourse or ejaculation) to perform five things: prayer, reading the Quran, touching and carrying the mushaf (Quran), performing tawaf (circumambulation around the Kaaba), and staying in the mosque." Through the above explanation, there is no mention of a prohibition for a person in a state of janabah to have sahur (pre-dawn meal before fasting in Ramadan). However, it is recommended to prioritize performing the obligatory bath (ghusl) first, as sahur itself is a recommended act of worship. Realizing that sahur itself is part of worship, therefore performing the obligatory bath first is to honor sahur.
Explained by Sheikh Ibnu Hajar Al Haitami in his book Minhaj Al Qawim Hamisy Hasyiyah Al Turmusi: "It is disliked for one in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) to eat, drink, sleep, and have sexual intercourse before washing the genitals and performing ablution. This is because there is an authentic hadith that commands such in the matter of sexual intercourse, and because it follows the Prophet's Sunnah in other matters, except for drinking, which is analogized with eating."
The following is the intention reading when performing obligatory bath or bath of major impurity:
وَيَتُ الْغُسْلِ لِرَفْعِ الْحَدَثِ الْأَكْبَرِ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ فَرْضًا لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى Nawaitul-ghusla lirafil ṣalāt-akbari minal-jinābati fardlan lillāhi ta'ala. Meaning: "I intend to perform the ritual bath to remove major impurity caused by sexual defilement, obligatory for the sake of Allah the Almighty."
The following is the translation of the 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any HTML tags: "The important steps to perform obligatory ablution or ritual bath (mandi junub) during the month of Ramadan that Muslims need to know are as follows:"
Washing hands three times. Cleaning all dirt and filth that sticks to the body. Performing ablution as if preparing for prayer. Pouring water on the head three times while intending to remove major impurity from the body. Pouring water on the right side of the body three times first, then continuing with the left side of the body also three times. Rubbing the body, both front and back, three times. Wiping the hair and beard for men.
Flow water to the folds of the skin and the base of the hair. Make sure every part of the body is exposed to water. Avoid touching the genital area. If it is touched, then perform ablution again.
"After completing the obligatory bath or junub bath, dear Drea, don't forget to pray again. Here is the recitation:"
"I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone without any partners, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. O Allah, make me among those who repent and make me among those who constantly purify themselves."
The time after sahur should be filled with beneficial activities that keep the body active.
