Dream - Along with the development of time, mukena as a cover for women's aura during prayer is no longer only white. Now there are many color choices and even unique patterns available. In fact, now mukena not only functions as a cover for aura during prayer, but also as part of the user's fashion. The models of mukena are also increasingly diverse, not only as a whole or divided into two parts, top and bottom, but also with additional stitching applications such as ruched accents on the neck or additional ciput on the forehead, and so on. The models and patterns of mukena colors are now very diverse.
However, what is the actual law regarding wearing colorful or patterned mukena for congregational prayers or tarawih prayers according to Islamic views? Find out the complete explanation of the law in the following article!
"When praying (either in congregation or during Tarawih prayers in the month of Ramadan), we are encouraged to wear our best attire. Therefore, as long as our modesty is maintained, there are no obligations or prohibitions in Islam regarding the use of a specific color for the 'mukena' (prayer garment)."
The same applies to the mukena used by Muslim women. There are no specific commands or prohibitions regarding the use of mukena with certain colors. Mukena in various models and colors may be worn as long as it still covers the aurat perfectly. However, what needs to be noted is to avoid using mukena with the intention of showing off, being arrogant, or demonstrating a high social status.
The following is the translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "An example is a headscarf that is coated with shimmering gold, which is used to showcase its expensive price. If there are elements like that, the use of headscarves with bright colors or intricate designs will be prohibited. This is in line with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, as conveyed in the following hadith: 'Whoever wears clothes with arrogance (syuhroh), then Allah will clothe them with garments of humiliation on the Day of Judgment.' (HR. Ahmad, Abu Daud, Ibn Majah, and An Nasa'i)"
This was also mentioned by Buya Yahya in one of his lectures as reported by Al Bahjah TV Channel titled "Is it Allowed to Wear Patterned Prayer Dress?". Buya Yahya explained the ruling on wearing colorful or patterned prayer dress during congregational prayers, especially Tarawih prayers in the month of Ramadan. According to him, it is permissible to wear colorful or patterned prayer dress for congregational prayers. The essence of wearing a prayer dress is to cover the aurah.
However, the best prayer robe is one that does not captivate people with its colors and designs. As long as the patterns on the prayer robe are not disturbing and do not make other worshippers turn to look at it. For example, small round motifs or unobtrusive lines.
Buya Yahya also explained that the use of prayer robes does not always have to be white. In fact, he prohibits the use of thin white prayer robes that make the hair and genitals visible due to transparency. If the condition is like that, then the use of white prayer robes is not recommended.
As long as the mukena (prayer garment) we wear does not disturb the person behind us, there is no problem in using it. The same applies to using mukena with motifs, it's okay. However, it is important to remember that using mukena with writings is not recommended, as it can attract the attention of others to look at it. Buya Yahya suggests that women prioritize wearing or buying comfortable and easy-to-wear mukena. This is intended to make them feel comfortable and at ease when performing worship.
