Dream - I'tikaf or secluding oneself in the mosque is increasingly practiced by Muslims during the last 10 nights of Ramadan. They flock to the mosque to worship throughout the night until the time of sahur, followed by congregational Fajr prayer. This practice has been exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the month of Ramadan. As explained in the hadith narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Indeed, the Prophet (peace be upon him) observed i'tikaf during the last ten nights of Ramadan until Allah, the Almighty, called him back, and then his wives continued observing i'tikaf after his demise." (Narrated by Muslim)

"When Muslims enter the mosque and intend to draw closer to Allah SWT by staying inside the mosque, that is when they start performing i'tikaf until they leave the mosque. In one narration, it is explained that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would perform i'tikaf, he would do so after the Fajr prayer, then enter the mosque for i'tikaf. The time of entering the mosque, which marks the beginning of the implementation of i'tikaf, is at the beginning of the night. This is explained in a hadith narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said:"

Friend of Dream who intends to perform i'tikaf in the mosque, here are the conditions and pillars that must be observed: Muslim Mentally mature Performed in the mosque Intention for i'tikaf Sane Free from major impurities.

When performing i'tikaf, do not forget to read the intention. This is when Dream's friend must determine the intention of the i'tikaf. Whether it is obligatory because of a vow or a recommended act. Here is the reading of the intention for a recommended i'tikaf: نَوَيْتُ الاعْتِكَافَ فِي هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ سُنَّةً لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى Meaning: "I intend to perform i'tikaf in this mosque, recommended for the sake of Allah ta'ala."

During i'tikaf, avoid engaging in useless activities. This worship is performed to get closer to Allah SWT. Sahabat Dream is advised to recite the following prayer while in i'tikaf: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwan fa'fu 'anni. Meaning: "O Allah, You are truly the Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive me."

During i'tikaf, keep yourself busy by performing various acts of worship. For example, engage in remembrance of Allah, perform voluntary prayers, and recite the Quran. These are the practices that will help the Dream companion focus on Allah SWT and bring blessings and rewards.

The next sunnah is to not speak except with good words. Therefore, during i'tikaf, make sure not to curse, gossip, sow discord, and other words that are not good or useful.
