From there we will continue the journey to Sha Tau Kok. Located in the Northern District of Hong Kong and right next to the Yantian District of Shenzhen. Sha Tau Kok was designated as part of the Closed Border Area in 1951 and can only be accessed by individuals with closed area permits. Non-residents visiting this border town must have guarantees from local residents.
However, currently Sha Tau Kok is open to visitors with local tour operators. Wow, imagine how exciting it will be to explore this place later.
Continue boarding the Ferry to Lai Chi Wo. What's there? We will see the enchanting historical Hakka village in Lai Chi Wo, surrounded by mangrove and lush 'fung shui' woodlands near the northeastern coast of New Territories.
"The village is walled, with over 200 houses arranged in a row on the beautiful hillside, built over 300 years ago. This is one of the oldest, largest, and well-preserved rural settlements in Hong Kong. The village has won the prestigious UNESCO 2020 Special Recognition for Sustainable Development award for promoting cultural heritage preservation. From there, we will return by boat to Sha Tau Kok.
