Dream - Several countries, especially Muslim-majority ones, are preparing to welcome the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1445 H. One of the aids provided by the government during the Eid period is the exemption or discount of toll road tariffs for the homecoming travelers.
Latest, Malaysia states that it will impose toll-free tariffs in order to welcome the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1445 H or the holiday of Lebaran in the country.
Quoting from Liputan6.com, several countries also implement policies of toll road fee exemption during the Eid holiday.
Minister of Works Malaysia, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi stated that free toll rates will be implemented at all toll gates in Malaysia, except for those located at the country's borders, namely the Sultan Iskandar Building Toll (BSI) and the Tanjung Kupang Plaza Toll in Johor.
He said, the toll-free period will start on April 8th (Monday) and end at 23.59 local time on April 9th (Tuesday), with a compensation allocation of 37.6 million Ringgit. "With this toll exemption, it is expected that the number of vehicles will increase by 2.46 million per day on all toll road networks," said Nanta, quoted from Bernama.
"In 2023, the city of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates implemented free tariffs on public parking facilities and toll roads during the Idul Fitri holiday."
Reported by GulfNews, the public transportation regulator in the emirate, which is part of the Department of City and Transportation, said that the toll-free period will last until the 3rd of Syawal, with the same date on the Gregorian calendar to be determined based on moon observation. The UAE authorities said that toll fees will be reinstated during peak hours after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
"In July 2023, Turkey implemented a free tariff on toll roads connected to the Syahid Bridge and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. 'The Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge can be used for free,' said the Turkish authorities, as quoted from Raillynews."
Apart from toll roads, Turkey also improves the capacity of high-speed trains, main lines, and regional trains.
