"Dream - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has recorded around 400 thousand civil servants (ASN) consisting of State Civil Servants (PNS) and Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) who fall into the category of low-income communities (MBR)."
Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Suhajar Diantoro noted that this figure represents 10 percent of all ASN in Indonesia, which totals 4.2 million.
"To be noted, MBR itself refers to the community that has limited purchasing power, thus requiring government support to obtain housing. “Out of 4.2 million (civil servants), we must understand that there are still our civil servants (PNS) who are considered as low-income communities, MBR,” said Suhajar, quoted from TASPEN's YouTube, Sunday, January 28, 2024."
Suhajar added that the reason for the ASN to fall into the MBR category is that they meet a number of indicators classified as poor communities.
For example, ASN whose income is below Rp 7 million per month is often found in group II. "If it is below Rp 7 million, there is now a limit for zakat recipients. People with what income are considered zakat recipients. It turns out that civil servants in group II are eligible to receive zakat," he said.
According to Suhajar, poverty indicators can be seen from income, and then the size of the house.
“Kan the poverty indicator is first, the income, how much is the income. Then, the house, how many square meters? It turns out that if you have a category II job as a driver, can you really (have) a type 100 (square meter) house? Just started working, maybe a type 27 (square meter) house, one wife two children, the house should be above 32 square meters,”
