1. Banana leaf

Tampah rotan is a handcrafted item that is commonly found in Indonesia. The selling price of tampah rotan on the Tokopedia marketplace is only Rp48,360. However, on Amazon, an American shopping site, they sell a rattan tray called 'Rattan Tray Rectangular Handmade' for Rp14 million.

3. Indomie

Indomie has become a globally recognized local product produced by PT Indofood. In fact, Indomie was once one of the 16 most well-known brands worldwide according to Kantar in 2021.

4. Tempe

In one British restaurant, the price of one portion of tempeh can reach US$20 or around Rp307,000. Furthermore, on eBay, 300 grams of tempeh are sold for Rp417,000. The deliciousness of tempeh and its nutritional value are some of the factors that make the price of tempeh in England equivalent to luxury food in Indonesia. Additionally, the difficulty in sourcing raw materials is also a supporting factor as to why tempeh can be sold at such a high price in the country.

5. Durian

If in Indonesia 1 kilogram of peeled durian is sold for Rp65,000. It's a different story on the world auction website (eBay) which sells durian for Rp2.5 million.

Tropical fruit like this one is indeed difficult to find, especially in America and Europe. Durian can only be found in supermarkets in Asia. Because of its rarity, the price of 1 kilogram of peeled durian can be very expensive in that country. In addition to the five foods mentioned above, snacks like Beng-beng and SilverQueen are also sold at high prices abroad. One pack of Beng-beng is sold for Rp117,000, while SilverQueen is sold for Rp359,000.
