Already Know? This is How to Check Affiliated Products with Israel

"Dream - The Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) states that it does not have the authority to issue a list of affiliated products from Israel. However, MUI encourages Muslim consumers to actively conduct their own research."

According to the Deputy Secretary General of MUI, KH Arif Fakhruddin, stakeholders such as the government, related ministries, and non-structural institutions can actively participate in providing literacy for the community. By opening data and information on which products are affiliated, as well as mentioning clear sources.

"MUI allows institutions or communities conducting boycott actions to conduct research, with the aim of proving that a product is indeed affiliated with Israel. MUI also urges the public to use a clear source's list of Israeli-affiliated products as a reference to follow MUI's instructions or guidance for boycott actions."

In line with the MUI's instructions, the Indonesian Muslim Consumer Foundation (YKMI) has compiled a list of 10 multinational companies recommended for boycott.

In addition to data from the Boycott.Thewitness and Bdnaash websites, the public can also check the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement website.

BDS through the website bdsmovement.net is also participating in promoting the boycott campaign initiated by the Turkish Consumer Association by disseminating links to boycott Israeli-affiliated products.

As an example, mobile phone users can check the connection between global companies and Israel, via the 'No Thanks' Application. Users simply need to type the brand name of the product in the Search box. If according to the data the product is affiliated with Israel, then the message that appears is 'This product is on the boycott list!'

"If you are still unsure and want to know the proof further, you just need to click the arrow sign labeled Open Proof, then you will be directed to an Israeli media site or other related news."

Search for boycotted products based on Brand name, Product name, or Barcode number can also be done using the Boycat.io application. If the Barcode on the product matches the data in the Boycat application, the displayed message will be 'This product is not compliant with Boycott Apartheid' (produk ini tidak sejalan dengan gerakan Boikot Apartheid).

Although so, the intimidation efforts towards websites and applications boycotting pro-Israel products continue. The No Thanks application once disappeared from the Google Play Store because there was a written statement on the screen stating "The products in your hands support the massacre of children in Palestine". This written statement is considered anti-Israel and antisemitic. However, the writing has now been removed and No Thanks can be downloaded again.

The same intimidation occurred on an application called 'DisOccupied'. This application has recently become popular as a reference for boycotting pro-Israel products. Although the Disoccupied.com website can still be accessed, the application is now missing from the Google Play Store and has not reappeared yet.
