"Dream - The Central Java National Workers Union Federation (FKSPN) confirms the existence of layoffs at PT Sai Apparel in Semarang City. However, the production process is still ongoing and has not been closed. This was stated to clarify the news of the closure of PT Sai Apparel and the termination of employment (layoffs) of 8,000 workers or employees."
Secretary of the Central Java FKSPN Regional Board, Heru Budi Utoyo, affirmed that PT Sai Apparel Semarang is still operating. However, with a significantly reduced number of workers.
The text translates to: "The word Heru is quoted from Solopos.com, Thursday, June 20, 2024."
"Although it is not closed, Heru confirms the news about layoffs at PT Sai Apparel in Semarang City. According to him, it is a consequence of the expansion of a new factory in Grobogan. However, he explains that the number of laid-off workers is not up to 8,000 people. It is only a total of 1,482 people."
"So the impact of moving to Grobogan is that some people were laid off, transferred to Grobogan (the workers), and their contracts were terminated because they were still on a fixed-term employment agreement," he said.
Heru said, layoffs did not happen in 2024. Instead, it happened at the end of last year. He mentioned that the rights of the laid-off workers have been fulfilled.
