"Facts about PT Sai Apparel Semarang Closure and Layoff of 8 Thousand Employees"

"Dream - The Central Java National Workers Union Federation (FKSPN) confirms the existence of layoffs at PT Sai Apparel in Semarang City. However, the production process is still ongoing and has not been closed. This was stated to clarify the news of the closure of PT Sai Apparel and the termination of employment (layoffs) of 8,000 workers or employees."

Masih Beroperasi

Still Operating

Secretary of the Central Java FKSPN Regional Board, Heru Budi Utoyo, affirmed that PT Sai Apparel Semarang is still operating. However, with a significantly reduced number of workers.

"Actually, the 8,000 employees are data for 2022 until 2023. Then, we are building a new factory in Grobogan, so some of the workers will be relocated there (Grobogan). Here (PT Sai Apparel Semarang), there are only 1,000-2,000 workers left, but we are still open, not closed. In Grobogan, there are around 5,000 workers."

The text translates to: "The word Heru is quoted from Solopos.com, Thursday, June 20, 2024."

"Factory Expansion"

"Although it is not closed, Heru confirms the news about layoffs at PT Sai Apparel in Semarang City. According to him, it is a consequence of the expansion of a new factory in Grobogan. However, he explains that the number of laid-off workers is not up to 8,000 people. It is only a total of 1,482 people."

"So the impact of moving to Grobogan is that some people were laid off, transferred to Grobogan (the workers), and their contracts were terminated because they were still on a fixed-term employment agreement," he said.
