Dream - A woman's dream in Ireland of becoming a billionaire vanished just because of a small mistake she was unaware of. It all started when the woman sued an insurance company.
The woman sued an insurance company for a value of US$823 thousand or nearly Rp13 billion for the injury claim she experienced.
However, during the trial process, the judge obtained evidence that prevented the billions of money from entering his pocket.
According to Business Insider, citing The Irish Independent report, the woman is named Kamila Grabska and she is only 36 years old. She is suing RSA Insurance for claims of back and neck pain that she experienced due to a car accident in 2017.
Due to the accident, Grabska was unable to work for more than five years. He also added that the accident made him unable to carry his children, complete basic tasks, or lift heavy bags. Sometimes he also needs pain relievers every time he wants to go to sleep.
However, all of these claims were refuted when the judge of the High Court of Ireland in Limerick received evidence in the form of a photo. In the photo, Grabska can be seen throwing a Christmas tree in January 2018, just a year after the accident she experienced. In the photo, Grabska, who is a resident of Ennis, is among several people throwing a 1.5-meter tall fir tree in the said competition.
The photo loaded in the BBC article shows a number of participants competing in throwing the furthest Christmas tree.
The local Irish page reported that Grabska admitted to Judge Carmel Stewart that she won the competition. Another evidence also comes from a 2018 article from the outlet that mentioned Grabska as the winner of the women's competition. Grabska is featured in the main image wearing a yellow jacket and work gloves, and appears to be throwing a tree.
According to The Irish Independent, just a few days before the competition, Grabska informed the doctor about the constant pain in her back, spine, and neck.
"Seeing the evidence, Judge Stewart assessed that the tree thrown by Grabska was very large in size. However, Grabska was able to throw it with a very agile movement."
"I am concerned that I cannot conclude that the claim is completely exaggerated," said the judge. The court also showed footage of Grabska playing with a Dalmatian dog in the park for about 90 minutes, according to The Irish Independent. The recording was taken in November 2023, The Telegraph reported.
From court records, the trial process of Grabska's lawsuit has finally been canceled. Meanwhile, the law firm representing Grabska did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
