Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) signed a new regulation for the position of village head (Kades), in which they will receive a pension.
The new regulation is stipulated in Law Number 3 of 2024 concerning Villages (Village Law).
According to Merdeka.com, pension money is one of the three financial rights of village heads. However, the amount of pension allowance has not been specified in the regulation. The amount of pension money for village heads will be regulated through government regulations.
Article 26 paragraph (3) letter d of the Village Law states that the village head will receive a retirement allowance once at the end of their term, in accordance with the village's financial capacity as regulated in the Government Regulation.
The retirement benefits are considered a legitimate reward for village chiefs who have completed their tenure.
The allowance will be given in the form of money or its equivalent. Retirement benefits will also be given to village officials and members of the Village Consultative Body.
Apart from retirement funds, village heads are also entitled to monthly income, allowances, as well as health and employment insurance or BPJS.
In the Village Law, it also changes the rules regarding the term of office for village heads. The term of office for village heads is extended from six years to eight years.
However, the number of periods for the village chief's term of office is reduced from three periods to two periods. Thus, the total term of office for a village chief can reach 16 years.
