Dream - Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) stated that Singapore relies on Indonesia's ecosystem, particularly in terms of electricity and water. This is evident when Singapore responds to Indonesia's plan to export low carbon electricity to Singapore.
"stated the Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), Juan Permata Adoe quoted from Merdeka.com."
"Singapore needs electricity and water, where the people of the country have strong purchasing power. Indonesia has both electricity and water. 'The approach, in my opinion, must inevitably be cooperation,' said Juan."
This is what needs to be learned, that Singapore's role must be utilized. According to him, if Singapore does not make changes in its political trade diplomacy, then the country will face difficulties.
As information, Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves), Rachmat Kaimuddin, stated that Indonesia is ready to export 2 gigawatts of low-carbon clean electricity to Singapore.
The export agreement is marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between several Indonesian and Singaporean companies, witnessed by Rachmat Kaimuddin and Singapore's Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Tan See Leng.
"Singapore will import 4 gigawatts of low-carbon electricity by 2035, where 50 percent of the total needed will come from Indonesia."
Collaboration between Indonesia and Singapore, is a framework to facilitate commercial projects to develop cross-border carbon energy and electricity trading as well as interconnectivity between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Singapore's Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Tan See Leng, said that this MoU is evidence of a long-term and comprehensive partnership.
