"Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) explained his statement that sparked a debate about whether the president and vice president are allowed to campaign and support one of the presidential candidates (Capres). Jokowi even brought a large piece of paper containing the points of Article 299 of Law (UU) Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, which regulates that the president and vice president have the right to campaign. He added that the statement also responded to questions from journalists about ministers participating in the campaign."
The translation of "Pernyataan Jokowi" to English is "Jokowi's Statement."
"It was a question from a journalist regarding whether ministers are allowed to campaign or not. I conveyed the provisions of the legislative regulations," said Jokowi as quoted from Liputan6.com, Sunday, January 28, 2024.
Jokowi requested that his statement quoting the rules regarding the president being allowed to campaign not be taken out of context.
Jokowi who carries a large sheet of paper containing articles about the president and vice president is allowed to campaign as long as he does not use state facilities.
"This is me showing the Law number 7 of 2017 clearly states in article 299 that the president and vice president have the right to conduct campaigns. Clear? So I convey the provisions regarding the election law, don't be taken elsewhere,"
"Clearly."
