Dream - The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police officially imposes fines for emissions starting today (Thursday, September 1, 2023). This disciplinary enforcement is implemented, among other things, to significantly reduce air pollution in Jakarta.
Referring to Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation, article 285 and article 286, riders who have not undergone an emission test will be subject to a fine. The fine for motorcycle riders is Rp250 thousand, while car drivers are subject to Rp500 thousand.
Deputy Director of Traffic at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police AKBP Doni Hermawan ensures that law enforcement officers have started monitoring the implementation of regulations to ensure compliance with applicable procedures. "Middle-ranking officers have been prepared in every activity to oversee the points of implementation of the Raid," Doni said as quoted from Liputan6.com, Friday, September 1, 2023.
Socialization related to traffic ticket sanctions has been conducted by the Metro Jaya Regional Police so that the public is expected to have prepared the eligibility of their vehicles. "The public also already knows, they just need to make sure whether their vehicles have passed the emission test or not," he said.
Doni ensures vehicle owners who are over three years old do not need to worry as long as they routinely maintain their vehicles. He also invites the community to collectively monitor the implementation of the emission test raid. If there are any deviations, the community can report them to the relevant authorities.
The emission testing task force in Jakarta consists of several agencies ranging from the Department of Environment (DLH), Department of Transportation (Dishub), Directorate of Traffic of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, to the Permanent Garrison Command I Jakarta.
For drivers who want to avoid emission test fines, it is necessary to conduct a vehicle inspection independently. The requirements themselves are included in the DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 31 of 2008, taking into account the provisions of the emission threshold of substances contained.
Quoting from the social media Instagram of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). Here are several requirements that will help you pass the vehicle emission test:
"Gasoline cars produced before 2007 must have a CO2 level below 3.0% with HC below 700 ppm. Gasoline cars produced after or in 2007 must have a CO2 level below 1.5% with HC below 200 ppm. Diesel cars produced before 2010 and with a vehicle weight below 3.5 tons must have an opacity (lead) level of 50%.
