"Dream - The Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform of Indonesia (MenPAN-RB), Abdullah Azwar Anas, stated that all Ministries/Agencies (k/l) will relocate their offices to the National Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan. Apparently, the relocation will be carried out in stages; not all deputies of each K/L will have offices in IKN, East Kalimantan. This was conveyed by Anas after attending the inaugural plenary session in IKN on Monday, August 12, 2024."

"We received the task of how to relocate ASN. Initially, there was a minister who moved and a minister who stayed in Jakarta. But then it was decided that the entire Ministry would move to IKN, the entire Ministry," said Anas.

"Not all deputies will move immediately. For the first stage, the deputies who will serve in IKN are only those with duties related to government functions. "Of course, with deputies directly related to government functions at a minimum, so not all deputies and not all assistant deputies will move to IKN," said Anas."

"To enhance coordination and collaboration among government ministries, a new work scheme will be implemented through shared offices. With this scheme, several government agencies (across sectors) will be located in the same office building or even on the same floor. “The shared office concept is implemented to support the transformation of work methods through flexible working arrangements with informal and digital-based workspaces,” concluded Anas."

"Previously, in the first cabinet meeting in IKN, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed the reasons for moving the capital from Jakarta to IKN. He stated that the relocation aims to promote economic equity. Thus, the national economic wheel will no longer be overly dependent on Java. "If we know, one of the reasons why the capital is moving is because we want equity, because we know that 58 percent of the GDP is in Java. Therefore, we also want to ensure that regions outside Java receive their share of economic circulation," said Jokowi."

"Besides that, Jokowi complained about the population in Java, which has become excessively burdensome, where the island is inhabited by around 56 percent of the population in Indonesia. "This is also a consideration for us to move the capital. Primarily, the burden in the capital, Jakarta, has indeed become very dense," said Jokowi."
