Dream - PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo) will close its fast delivery shopping service or quick commerce on the Tokopedia platform, called Tokopedia Now. The service will be closed starting from July 15, 2024. This information is known from the announcement that can be seen through the Tokopedia shopping application or website.
"Tokopedia Now is allowed to say goodbye. You can still shop until the last day of operation on July 15, 2024," according to the announcement. However, as of the writing of this article, there has been no official announcement from the company regarding the reason for the closure of the service."
To be known, Tokopedia Now was launched in November 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic. This service helps people get daily necessities products. Including basic necessities products such as meat, vegetables, fruits, snacks, and others, within a maximum delivery time of two hours after payment.

"Previously, the news of layoffs of Shop Tokopedia employees, which is the result of the merger between TikTok Shop and Tokopedia, has also become the spotlight. Tokopedia carried out employee downsizing of 450, which was rumored to have been done in June 2024."
In the Bloomberg report, based on sources familiar with the layoff plan, Bytedance (the parent company of TikTok Shop) is laying off 9% of its 5,000 employees to save budget.
From the 9% percentage, it means that there will be 450 employees who will lose their jobs. Director of Corporate Affairs at Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia, Nuraini Razak, confirmed the layoff news.
Nuraini said that employee adjustments were made to align the team with the company's goals. "Following the merger of TikTok and Tokopedia, we have identified several areas that need to be strengthened within the organization and aligned our team to fit the company's objectives," Nuraini revealed in a written statement, Friday, June 14, 2024.
