"Dream - Diabetes, including one of the most common chronic diseases, but awareness of its symptoms is still very low. Professor Dr. Pradana Soewondo SpPD-KEMD revealed that around 70 percent of people with high blood sugar levels are unaware that they have diabetes."
"There are no symptoms and these people can carry on with their activities as usual," said Soewondo in Kemencast of the Ministry of Health. Prof. Soewondo explained that some people already have symptoms but pretend not to know. For young people, make sure you know these symptoms, don't neglect them."
1. Frequent Urination
High blood sugar levels cause the sugar to be excreted through the urinary tract, resulting in increased frequency of urination. "High blood sugar will be excreted through the urinary tract, causing more frequent and larger amounts of urination," said Soewondo.
2. Dry Mouth
Dry mouth is a condition often experienced by diabetes sufferers. This happens because the body loses a lot of fluid through excessive urination, a common symptom of diabetes.
3. Feeling Thirsty All the Time
The body that loses a lot of fluids through frequent urination tries to replace them by increasing the feeling of thirst. When blood sugar levels are high, the kidneys try to remove excess sugar through urine, which causes an increase in urine production and frequent urination.
4. Feeling Weak or Lacking Energy
"Because the sugar in the blood is high but cannot enter the cells to be converted into energy, this makes the body feel weak," added Soewondo."
5. Hungry Feeling that Makes the Desire to Keep Eating
The body cannot effectively use glucose as a source of energy, so it continues to feel hungry even after eating.
6. Weight Loss
