Prayer when Having Trouble Sleeping at Night, Including Tips to Avoid Insomnia.

Prayer when Having Difficulty Sleeping at Night, Including Tips to Avoid Insomnia

1. Prayer for Difficulty Sleeping at Night

Allahumma ghāratin nujūm wa hadaʼatil ʻuyūn, wa anta hayyun qayyūmun, lā taʼkhudzuhu sinatun wa lā naum. Yā hayyu, ya qayyūm, ahdiʼ laylī wa anim ʻaynī. Translation: "O my Lord, the stars have 'set', and many eyes have become still, while You are the Ever-Living and the Sustainer. Neither drowsiness nor sleep affect You. O Ever-Living and Sustainer, calm my night and rest my pair of eyes."

2. Prayer for Difficulties Sleeping at Night

In addition, Prophet Muhammad SAW also taught the prayer to recite when experiencing difficulty sleeping. Here is the recitation that friends of Dream can practice: A’udhu bi kalimaatillahit tammaati min ghodlobihi wa min syarri ‘ibaaadihi wa min hamazaatisy syayaatiina wa ayyahdluruun. Meaning: "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger, from the evil of His servants, from the whispers of devils, and from their presence."

3. Prayer for Difficulty Sleeping at Night

Zaid bin Tsabit during his lifetime once experienced difficulty sleeping at night. Then he prayed, where the prayer is found in the book of Ibnu Sunni as follows: Allahumma gharatin nujum wa dahaatil 'uyun, wa anta hayyun qayyum, la takkhuzuka sinatun wala naumun. Ya hayyu ya qayyum, ahdi' laili wa anim'aini. It means: "O Allah, the stars have faded, the eyes have closed, and You are the Ever-Living and the Sustainer of all creatures. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes You. O Living and Sustaining Being, calm my night and put my eyes to sleep."

Tips to Avoid Insomnia According to Islam

In addition to reciting prayers before sleeping at night, you also need to accompany it with effort. Here are some ways to quickly fall asleep according to Islam that you can practice:
1. Perform ablution before sleeping
"When you intend to go to bed (sleep), then perform ablution just as you perform ablution for prayer." (Narrated by Al-Bukhari)

               

2. Sleep after Isha Prayer Sleep after performing the Isha prayer. By doing so, you can sleep more peacefully. In addition, avoid sleeping too late at night. Besides maintaining your health, it will also be easier for you to wake up in the third part of the night and perform the night prayer. 3. Sleep Facing Right The next tip for sleeping quickly is to sleep facing right or facing the direction of the qibla. It is advisable to avoid sleeping in a prone or supine position. These positions can disrupt breathing and pose a danger to the heart.

4. Reading Verses of the Quran Reading Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas before going to sleep. You can also recite Ayat Kursi (Al-Baqarah: 255), which is highly recommended for protection and tranquility of the heart at night. 5. Reciting Dhikr Before Sleep Reciting dhikr such as tasbih (Subhanallah), tahmid (Alhamdulillah), and takbir (Allahu Akbar) before sleep can calm the mind and heart. Therefore, it is suitable to practice when going to sleep at night.

6. Avoid Heavy Meals Before Bedtime Avoid consuming heavy meals a few hours before bedtime. If you are hungry, consume light and healthy snacks. Having heavy meals before bedtime is also not good for your body's health. 7. Avoid Caffeinated Drinks It is advisable to avoid caffeinated drinks such as coffee and tea in the evening as they can keep you awake.

8. Creating a Comfortable Sleeping Environment Make sure the bedroom is comfortable, dark, and quiet. A cool room temperature also helps to sleep more soundly. 9. Keeping the Mind Calm Avoid stress and disturbing thoughts before sleep. Dhikr and prayer can help calm the mind.
