Dream - Having a lover, of course, we always want to be close and communicate even though we are separated by distance and busyness. Moreover, now through smartphones, we can easily exchange messages, voice, and even video calls anytime.
"If you want to always be close to your partner, make sure not to overdo it. Because the relationship will become unhealthy. Like an 18-year-old girl from China."
He was so obsessed with his girlfriend that he tracked her every move and called her 100 times a day. This made the doctor diagnose him with a condition called "Love Brain" or "Otak Cinta". The girl from Sichuan province became so obsessed with her boyfriend that she made their lives a nightmare. Her disturbing behavior started in her first year of college when she entered into a romantic relationship with a man whose name was not mentioned to protect his privacy.
According to Du Na, a doctor at The Fourth People's Hospital of Chengdu, the girl quickly became unreasonably obsessed with her boyfriend. She wants to know her boyfriend's whereabouts at all times and panics when he doesn't immediately respond to her messages.
It sounds like crazy control behavior in general, but according to the doctor, Xiaoyu suffers from a mental disorder called "Love bRain." "She hopes her messages will be replied to immediately," said Dr. Du. Du also explained that every day the girl calls her boyfriend more than 100 times and gets very angry when he doesn't answer. When angry, the girl goes berserk and destroys things in her boyfriend's apartment.
The lover certainly feels very disturbed. He then called the police, who arrived just as the girl who was affected by "Love Brain" threatened to jump from the balcony. The incident of apartment vandalism led to the girl being detained and later taken to the hospital. After further examination, it was diagnosed that the girl suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder or more easily referred to as "Love Brain".
Doctor Du Na said that people who have mild form of "Love Brain" usually can recover and live a normal life just by learning to control their emotions, but in severe cases like the one experienced by the girl, medical assistance is needed. Although Dr. Du cannot accurately identify the cause of Xiaoyu's condition, he said that "Love Brain" is usually diagnosed in people who do not have a healthy relationship with their parents as they grow up.
The story of a girl named Xiaoyu has gone viral on Chinese social media and sparked intense debates about mental health and the stigma surrounding it, as well as the true causes of controlling behavior in romantic relationships.
"Brain love sounds terrifying," commented someone on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. "I wonder if I have brain love? I feel like I'm acting like him," wrote another account that also joined the discussion. Source: OddityCentral
