Dream - Some time ago, professional model from Saudi Arabia Rumy Alqahtani announced on her personal Instagram account @rumy_alqahtani that she will participate in the Miss Universe competition.
He stated that he would become the first representative of Saudi Arabia in the beauty contest. The news about Rumy representing Saudi Arabia is causing a lot of commotion and sparking controversy.
Apparently, Rumy's claim was denied by Miss Universe. Through an official statement uploaded on the MissUniverse.com website, Miss Universe announced that Rumy's statement is not true.
"Miss Universe wants to clarify the claims of participation by a contestant representing Saudi Arabia in this year's competition. We want to state that there was no selection process conducted in Saudi Arabia and all these claims are false and misleading," stated the statement.
From the statement it is also known that each contestant who participates in the event undergoes a very strict selection process. In order for contestants from a certain country to participate, they must be approved by the Miss Universe committee and meet several requirements.
"The selection of contestants to represent their countries in the Miss Universe competition is a rigorous process following our guidelines and policies," stated the Miss Universe organization.
