Prayer to Avoid Evil Jin Disturbances

The nature of jinn which is invisible makes them easy to disturb and tempt humans. However, Dream's friends must remember that these creatures are part of Allah SWT's creation. And only Allah SWT is able to fight against them.

With the help of Allah SWT, we can avoid evil jinn disturbances. The way is by reciting the prayer found in Surah As-Saffat verses 1-10 below:

سَفَّاةِ الصَّفَّا

Wassaaaffaati saffaa.

Meaning: "By those [angels] who range themselves in ranks [for worship]," (QS.As-Saffat: 1)

فَزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا

Fazzaajiraati zajraa.

Meaning: "Then those [angels] who drive away with a blast," (QS.As-Saffat: 2)

فَتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا

Fattaaliyaati zikra.

Meaning: "And those [angels] who recite the message," (QS.As-Saffat: 3)

إِنَّ إِلَهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ

Inna Illaahakum la waahid.

Meaning: "Indeed, your god is One," (QS.As-Saffat: 4)

رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ

Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa wa Rabbul mashaariq.

Meaning: "Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and Lord of the easts." (QS.As-Saffat: 5)

إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ

Innaa zaiyannas samaaa 'ad dunyaa biziinatinil kawaakib.

Meaning: "Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars." (QS.As-Saffat: 6)

وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَّارِدٍ

Wa hifzam min kulli shaitaanim maarid.

Meaning: "And [We have appointed them] as protectors from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah]," (QS.As-Saffat: 7)

لا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَى وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ

Laa yassamma 'uuna ilal mala il a'alaa wa yuqzafuuna min kulli jaanib.

Meaning: "They do not hear therein any ill speech - only [greetings of] peace - and they have been expelled from every side," (QS.As-Saffat: 8)

دُحُورًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ

Duhuuranw wa lahum 'azaabunw waasib.

Meaning: "[As] refuge, and for them is a torment afflictive." (QS.As-Saffat: 9)

إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ

Illaa man khatifal khatfata fa atba'ahuu shihaabun saaqib.

Meaning: "Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness]." (QS.As-Saffat: 10)

And indeed, your God is one

Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa wa Rabbul mashaariq.

Meaning: "Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them and Lord of the east." (QS.As-Saffat: 5)

Indeed, your God is one

Innaa zaiyannas samaaa 'ad dunyaa biziinatinil kawaakib.

Meaning: "Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with stars." (QS.As-Saffat: 6)

And (He) is the one who created the night and the day

Wa hifzam min kulli shaitaanim maarid.

Meaning: "And (He) is the one who protected them from every rebellious devil," (QS: As-Saffat: 7)

Indeed, your God is one

Laa yassamma 'uuna ilal mala il a'alaa wa yuqzafuuna min kulli jaanib.

Meaning: "They cannot listen to the highest assembly and they are pelted from every side," (QS.As-Saffat: 8)

And indeed, your God is one

Duhuuranw wa lahum 'azaabunw waasib.

Meaning: "To repel them and they will have a lasting punishment," (QS.As-Saffat: 9)

Indeed, your God is one

Illaa man khatifal khatfata fa atba'ahuu shihaabun saaqib.

Meaning: "Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a burning flame." (QS.As-Saffat: 10)

Ways to Avoid Jin Disturbances

In addition to reciting the above prayer, friends of Dream should also perform these practices to avoid jinn disturbances. Here are the practices:

Remembrance of Allah SWT

Remembrance of Allah is one of the worship that is commanded to the Muslim community. Through remembrance, our hearts and minds will always be close to and remember Allah SWT. When our hearts and minds are only filled with Allah SWT, then the jinn will not dare to approach, let alone disturb.

So, fill your days with remembrance of Allah SWT. Whether it's after prayer, during a journey, or while doing activities.

Believing and Trusting in Allah SWT

Those who believe and trust in Allah SWT will also be protected from jinn and satanic disturbances. This has been explained in His words through Surah An-Nahl verses 99-100:

إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَمْلِكُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ. وَمَا عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَتَوَلَّوْنَهُم مِّن دُونِهِ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ وَلَا يَشْرِكُونَ بِهِ شَيْئًا"

إِنَّمَا سُلْطَانُهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَتَوَلَّوْنَهُ وَالَّذِينَ هُم بِهِ مُشْرِكُونَ وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا

Meaning: "Indeed, Satan has no influence over those who believe and trust in their Lord. His influence is only on those who make him their leader and who associate partners with Allah." (QS. An-Nahl: 99-100)

Sleep until Morning

Another way to avoid jinn disturbances is by sleeping until morning. Why? This prohibition certainly has its reasons, and the reason comes from a hadith of the Prophet. Ibn Mas'ud said that in the presence of the Prophet, it was mentioned that there was a man who slept all night until morning came. Then, the Prophet said:

"The man has been urinated on by Satan in both of his ears." or he said, "In his ears." (HR.Bukhari and Muslim)
