Dream - General elections (pemilu) 2024 have just been held on February 14th. This moment takes place every five years and becomes an extraordinary lesson for our beloved ones.
Especially children and teenagers. Their age may not allow them to vote, but from this election moment, children can learn many things, especially about democracy.
"What can be taught to children during the election period and change of government?"
Show children that every citizen has the political right to choose their representatives in parliament, even to choose the president and vice president themselves.
Later, after reaching the age of 17, they will receive that right and can use their voice and choices according to their conscience.
In the election situation, everyone surely has their own choices, whether it's when choosing a party, representatives in parliament, up to the president and vice president.
This sometimes creates a heated atmosphere of debate. Let the child know that debate is very common in politics but there are limits to norms, laws, and ethics. It is allowed to express opinions and debate, as long as you still respect other people's opinions and do not belittle them.
The political situation will definitely be very dynamic during the election until the official decision by the General Election Commission (KPU) is made. This is the moment where children can be encouraged to think critically, discuss, and potentially have interesting conversations. If the child is interested, ask them to read a lot of news. Not only from social media, but also from credible sources or perhaps in-depth research in journals and libraries to broaden their understanding about the election. This will greatly impact their thinking in the future.
Children definitely need a good role model or example in how to behave during situations like the current elections. Try to express your opinions in a good manner, and if there is a debate, handle it wisely. Always remember, children are excellent imitators.
The use of gadgets not only affects children's intelligence. It can also cause emotional development disorders.
